Going computerised

It's been quite an exciting time for us at the moment with a whole new computerised system being installed ready to go live in May.

Not only will we be able to book all of our brides onto a computerised diary system, but once a selection of dream dresses have been selected, we will be able to email a message direct to the bride with details and pictures of the shortlisted gowns....up to 3 at a time!

Meaurements, expected delivery timescales and lots of other bits of information can be downloaded and a copy of the terms and conditions can be printed immediately......and emailed direct to the bride at home.

Details of bridesmaid orders and special requests can all be stored on the system and not only is this a fabulous sales system, it will really help me organise myself in time for that dreaded VAT bill or annual stocktake.....for this i will be eternally grateful!!

BRIMAS - here we come!!

Fashion shoots galore

Hi all

I didn't realise that it has been over 6 months since I updated my blog.....how remiss and lazy of me!

We have been so busy recently working with some incredible photographers and I am so excited, sitting here waiting to see the end results of some seriously hard work.

We worked with Fleur Challis photography on a shoot at a new wedding venue called Haynes Barn house situated in Saltwood near Folkestone. The shoot was based in the house and gardens and we took a couple of vintage style gowns with us on the day "Monique" and "Victoria" and ended up with some stunning shots. The beautiful models Jenna and Emma were frozen stiff as despite the sunshine it was freezing that day.....and despite being allergic to horses, Emma looked stunning on Sasperilla as I'm sure you will agree.

At the same time as this, we were also in a wonderful position to be asked by Dan Desborough to lend him some gowns for a "Rock the frock" shoot which he was organising somewhere urban and secret. This session involved a lot of paint ( the dress was completely trashed) but the photos atre absolutely amazing. Sadlt they are currently under wraps as they will be featuring in May's EKOne magazine which is due out at the end of the month and we don't want to spoil the surprise.....we have however, featured one gorgeous pickie of Ali looking absolutely fabulous! The dress has been returned to us and will be featured in our wondow display later to coincide with the magazine article.

Exciting times

This week has seen lots of new products arriving following my spending spree  at Harrogate, the UK's bridal trade fair.

We have taken on a new collection of diamante tiaras from Twilight designs which are gorgeous and sparkly and stunning feather wraps and boleros from Joan Lee accessories which will really keep you warm on a wintry day ( just what we need at the mo!)

We have also announced the winner of our 2010 Prom Queen competition - Miss Lishaa Groves from Deal.

Tobi Hannah dresses

We are very  pleased with the new collection from Tobi Hannah which arrived this week and are already receiving rave reviews since we put them on display in our window on Weds.

If you are looking for a different dress to wear in the evening then you will not be disappointed with these gowns.

Alternatively they are fabulous if you want to get married abroad, have a civil partnership or simply want to look and feel amazing at your 21st or engagement party!

We have had fun listening to passersby  who have noticed them in the window.....they are real Marmite dresses - you either love them or hate them......either way we are enjoying the comments and  its very interesting to hear the male opinion on them too......most of whom actually love the shortness of the dresses......clearly leg men!!!

Come and see them soon.....they come in 81 different colours  and are priced
between £295 - £495.

Exciting times

We have had an absolutely manic time recently at the shop with lots of prom girls collecting their gorgeous dresses ready for their end of year school prom.

This is usually the first time a young girl has had the chance to wear a long and fabulous gown and we are really looking forward now to July when the season is finished and we can start sifting through our competition entry photos and applications.

This is also the time of year when we start receiving our new collections...this year we have taken on the new Sonsie gowns which are designed for size 18-34 and feature the mosrt beautiful beadwork and corsetry. We have received 3 of our orderf already and they are going down storm.

We have also placed an order with Tobi Hannah and the dresses should be with us by mid July. Tobi has managed to negotiate an amazing photographic feature with the Spa secrets magazine sold in Harrods and Selfridges....her dress Rosales is featured twice in the magazine and we have reproduced one of their pictures below for you to enjoy.

New collection coming in June - Designer Tobi Hannah

What a wonderful day we had today choosing a new collection for the bride who wants a short wedding gown

Tobi Hannah is a new comer to the bridal industry and she
has created a capsule collection of 50's inspired gowns made from beautiful fabrics embellished with her trademark of flowers.

It's difficult when there are so many dresses to choose from and each of my girls in the shop liked a different gown....so I bought as many as my pocket money budget would allow!!

These dresses are available in 81 colours, so you aren't limited to wearing them solely on your wedding day....wear them as mother of the bride or groom, save it for the office Xmas party or simply because you are worth splashing out on for any occasion.

Carnival Queens

This time a few years ago we were asked to provide the gowns for a gorgeous young girl named Siobhan Huster who was into pageant competitions in a big way.....Miss Dover, Miss Kent, Miss England......each time she entered a new competition she needed a new gown!!

We are very proud that for the last two years our dresses have been worn by the newly crowned Miss Dover's....2009 was Fiona-Ann Rosser and this year the lovely Sofie Stroud.

We have also provided gowns in the traditional White and Blue of the Kent Court

We are hoping that after this Friday's selection event, the Kent Court will choose us again.....so watch this space!

Handbags and Shoes

I'm sure you will agree that a girl can never have too many pairs or shoes or enough handbags.....and we have updated our collection in-store to help you!!

We have included Benjamin Adams new collection for 2010 - which are absolutely divine and have recently added a a capsule collection of glitzy classy evening bags in a whole myriad of colours so that there is something for everyone.

Whether you are looking for a little black number, or want something in burnt orange or purple ( this years most popular colour), we now can dye those shoes for you and provide you with a stunning little clutch bag.

Spring sale events and wedding fairs

It's that time of year when we are having to clear some space on the rails ready for our new collections, and what better way to do this than to have a spring clearance sale.

This gives us  the opportunity to choose some styles which we can discount significantly for a bride who is wanting to have a gorgeous dress at a fraction of the normal retail price.......please note that these prices are even lower than if you were to hire a gown and the dresses are all good quality sample gowns which have only been tried on in the shop.........and some have never been tried on at all !!!!

We tie this in with wedding fairs which are all abundant at this time of year.

If you wish to come and meet a variety of different wedding professionals, then you can join us at the following fairs:

14th March - Abbots Barton hotel in Canterbury
21st March - Ashford International hotel in Ashford, Kent
28th March - Burlington Hotel in Folkestone

We also have a huge new collection of prom gowns ready for the 2010 proms and this means that a number of last years collection are also discounted.....but visit us quick before they all go.

Wedding fairs

Hi guys

It's that time of year when we start doing the wedding fairs.

Weekends may have been precious in the past for those lovely lie-ins, but now they are even more precious as Sunday wedding fairs give us a chance to promote ourselves to you lovely brides and gives you a chance to get to know about us if you didn't already!

The weekend just gone saw us attend the Abbotts Barton hotel in Canterbury. This is a gorgeous venue and not one we have exhibited at before. The staff were fabulous and friendly and anyone booking their wedding there will get excellent service from Sharne, the events manager and the rest of her team.

It was a really nice day, the weather was good and we met lots of girls who don't live in Folkestone and therefore didn't know we existed. Hopefully those who booked appointments to come and try some of our gowns wont be disappointed and we look forward to seeing you again and helping to create your dream day.

Our next event is at The Kentish Barn, a beautiful old thatched barn at Farthingloe near Dover, Kent. We will be there on Saturday 28th November for their winter wonderland wedding fair....see you there xx
